Travis Thomas, President of the defense and aerospace recruiting firm Specialty Executives Inc., is a man committed to taking life to the next level.  In his professional life or his personal life Mr. Thomas never settles for status quo.

As an avid weight lifter Mr. Thomas usually begins his mornings with a 5 mile run carrying a 40 lbs. ruck sack strapped upon his back.  His after-noon workouts are no less grueling as he accomplishes a personal best dead lift of 525lbs.  An exhausting schedule that his wife of 20 years simple describes as “dedicated insanity”.

In 2008 Mr. Thomas pursued a passion for flying.  He studied and gained his sport pilot license then proceeded to begin flying a powered parachute plane.  In layman’s terms - a glorified go cart with an industrial fan and a parachute tying it all together.   Most men would have been more than satisfied to hang up their wings after experiencing an inflight seized engine thus resulting with an emergency landing into a corn field.  However, not Travis Thomas, he and his passenger walked away with no injuries other than a few raised heart beats. 

Mr. Thomas converted his love of flying to a 182 Cessna Skylane, thus obtaining his private pilot license and was once again off into the skies; and to date, no emergency landings.

Mr. Thomas guides his two daughters with the same mantra for life that he possesses.   Taylor 13, a championship volleyball player and Haley 9, an emerging trap shooter follow their father in lead “Brave Hearts and Strong Minds.”  

Knowing your levels is an extremely important aspect of the daily grind for Mr. Thomas and the recruiters working for Specialty Executives Inc. Each member of the Specialty Executives team tracks and monitors their daily metrics using RPM.  Mr. Thomas places great weight in knowing how to move his team forward.  In order to move forward Mr. Thomas uses RPM and metrics to determine where his team has been. 

RPM poises Mr. Thomas to watch and project market trends, helps to determine what everyone else is doing in the market place and how he can do it better.  A truly efficient tool that Mr. Thomas urges seasoned recruiters and new recruiters to use is the Tune Up section.  All recruiters in the Specialty Executives office constantly hear Mr. Thomas announcing “If you can’t track it you can’t control it”.
