Secrets of Million Dollar Producers

3/2011

In the world of executive recruiting, success is ours for the taking. So why do some people achieve superstardom and others quit in frustration? What does it really take to become a multi-million dollar biller?

Obviously, it’s not going to happen for everyone. Only the top half of one percent of all recruiters bill over a million dollars a year. Most people are unable or unwilling to climb to that level. But with focus, passion, and drive a very few will get there.

Recently four of the industry’s most respected producers spoke with me about their professional philosophies and strategies. They are all at the top of their game: each   consistently bills over $1 million a year, averaging $1.5 million in annual billings over the last seven years.  The secrets of this elite group read like a detailed job description, one that is powerful enough to change your life.

They include being competitors, high activity levels, a strong ambition, narrowed focus, sacrifice, fear and some advanced skill sets.  We will dive into all of these in the next few weeks.

Maximizing Recruiting Performance

1/2011

“The greatest waste in the world is the difference between what we are and what we could become.”

- Ben Herbster

We as humans are capable of great things.  Every year, world records are broken in everything from speed, strength, intellect and even how many hot dogs someone can devour.   Individuals with their eyes set on achievement, see personal records broken year after year.  We as humans have no idea still of our true potential.  The only thing we do know for sure is we are from reaching it.   In recruiting, it is no different.   Even in tough global economies, some recruiters and recruiting firms throughout the world posted record billings and profits.   Most of the time, it’s not always a matter of luck and being in the right market at the right time.  It’s a matter of setting a goal, developing a plan and having the discipline to do what needs to be done – even in the face of adversity- and making the needed changes as the market place does.   My goal for Maximizing Recruiting Performance is to give the recruiting community, as a whole, information on best practices, advanced skill sets and techniques to maximize you and your offices performance.
